Integrated Detection System for Biological Contaminants in Fuels

For more safety in air traffic

The goal of the new method is to provide an integrated system for DNA-based detection of biological contaminants in fuels with minimal user effort. The integrated procedure combines existing protocols and methods and transforms them into a technical solution for use at the sampling site (e.g. airport).

The new process is characterized by:

  • an integrated system solution
  • detection with minimal sample preparation
  • a prompt detection at the place of sampling e.g. at the airport with presentation of the results and resulting recommendations for action
  • simultaneous detection of several relevant organisms (multiplexing)
  • minimal user effort

Compared to immunological methods already established on the market, the new technology is more specific, faster and more sensitive. At the same time, it enables the detection of different types of relevant biological contaminants.
