The main focus of the research field Manufacturing Technologies for Bioprocesses is the development of solutions for complex laboratory automation tasks in the field of biotechnology. In addition to simplifying workflows in the cultivation, expansion and monitoring of cells, processes and devices for a wide range of point-of-care applications are also being developed.

The necessary competencies include microfabrication technologies, methods for the analysis and application of molecular interfaces and electronic effects, as well as expertise in the microfluidic and cell culture areas.

The aim of the developments is to increase the efficiency, quantity and quality of cell products and bioanalytical processes.
