Early Detection and Therapy Monitoring Through Breath Analysis
Equine asthma is the most common respiratory disease in horses. However, early diagnosis remains a significant challenge.
Non-specific symptoms and invasive standard procedures such as bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) often result in the disease being detected only at an advanced stage.
EQUINAERO introduces a novel diagnostic approach by combining non-invasive breath aerosol analysis with a point-of-care solution that can be used directly on-site. This enables earlier and more accessible respiratory health assessment in horses.
Building on our already validated technology, the AHEAD project is now focused on further refining the specific use case in close collaboration with horse owners and veterinarians, while validating its market potential. The insights generated will form the basis for licensing the technology to suitable partners and supporting its continued development and commercialization.
